In this personal review, I'll provide you with an in-depth look at the features, benefits, and drawbacks of the standing desk. Whether you're looking for adjustable height, ergonomic design, or plenty of storage space, this standing desk doesn't leave much to be desired.

But don't just take my word for it. Let's have a quick look at this innovative piece of office furniture if you don’t want to go through the entire article.

Desky Dual Stand-Up Desk: Quick Overview

Desky Dual Stand-Up Desk
Desky Dual Stand-Up Desk

I've used the Desky Dual Scalloped Melamine Sit-Stand Desk (150 x 75 cm) with the black frame for nearly a year now, alternating with my UpDown Pro Desk.

While the UpDown standing desk offers slightly better specifications and durability. I really like the scalloped desk design for the Desky Dual standing desk, which allows me to move the desk closer to the wall. While simple, it's uncommon with many standing desks, even the UpDown.

Desky's sit-stand also offers great weight capacity, height range, and excellent stability at raised heights with its dual motors and a 3-stage lifting system. Its robust frame, certified by BIFMA, TÜV Rheinland, and EESS, is a testament to Desky's dedication to meeting stringent standards. The adjustable standing desk is stylish and available in three standard desktop sizes and various colours. Most people are fine with the medium size, 150 x 75 cm. The larger size, at 180 x 75 cm, perfectly suits media professionals searching for a very wide adjustable height desk.

Desky's pricing for the Dual Stand-Up Desk is also reasonable, making it an excellent starting point if you want to make the switch to standing desks. However, when combined with accessories, the price can go above $2,000. It offers dual motors, providing swift and quiet adjustments to the tabletop height. Its 140 kg load capacity can hold multiple monitors, cameras, and laptops together for easy and efficient work time. The lifting height is designed to provide a seated and standing height range that is ergonomically suited for most users.

Here comes the downside, Desky's Dual Stand-Up Desk only has a trial period of only 7 days. Yes, that's it. On purchase, there are three standard desktop sizes to pick from, as already established, but you can order a custom size desk according to your room area and further customisation options like desktop colour, ergo curve, or a back scallop. Here are the standing desk's key specifications and accompanying accessories.

Best Bits of the Desky Dual Stand-Up Desk

The Desky Dual Sit-Stand Desk is an excellent standing desk for many users in Australia and a popular option among those who fancy good cable management like me. Here are 7 reasons why I recommend it.

1. Build quality

The Desky Dual Stand-up Desk is made of high-quality materials and is designed to last. It features a powder-coated steel frame, a solid melamine desktop, and a robust motor system. The desk can support up to 140 kg and is adjustable within 60 – 125 cm. Still, the Desky has marginally less heavy-duty construction than the UpDown Pro.

I have zero complaints about Desky's weight capacity and height range. It's withstood everything I've thrown at it so far. For context, I have a desktop, a 30-inch centre monitor, and two older 20-inch monitors on either side with additional equipment to switch the monitor and keyboard between laptop and desktop, speakers, etc.

Desky's Laminated Desk Surface.

The desk's surface is also laminated to resist scratches, spills, and stains. Not even when I had used it for other tasks besides holding my monitor and accessories. For the leg colour, I recommend the grey or matte black option. Although not scratch resistant like the desk surface, it's difficult to identify scratches, unlike the white.

2. Desktop options

Desky offers different wood choices for the desktop, with some made with a combination of high-grade MDF and particleboard to provide superior strength and stability. They also have some interesting hardwood options with epoxy resin taste, not to my taste, but many people will love them. I prefer the native Australian timber desktop options that are available with the UpDown Pro Desk. However, there certainly are other desktop options from Desky, and the hardwood options are still very classy.

📌
Desktop Materials:
Bamboo, Rubberwood, Softwood, Hardwood, Resin Hardwood, Melamine

Desktop shapes:
Regular Rectangle, Ergo Edge, Scalloped, 120 Adjustable, L-shaped

Desky has various desktop options available to customise and build your ideal standing desk setup. You can choose between several different materials, sizes, and colours to ensure your new desk looks great and fits into any office environment.

The electric standing desk features an auto-off LED to save extra power usage, while the UpDown Pro Desk automatically shuts off after 15 min of non-use. Desky Dual also features a Child Lock system to provide additional safety just like Northday EverDesk, another standard sit-stand desk available to Aussies.

3. Advanced cable management

Think Desky; think cable management. The sit-stand desk manufacturer offers advanced optional cable management systems to keep your work area neat and organised. The system makes it the best choice for people with many different devices and accessories.

Desky Integrated Cable and Power Channel
Desky Integrated Cable and Power Channel

Desky's cable and power channel can integrate up to ten 240V power sockets underneath the desk, giving users with multiple computers and monitor setups plenty to work with. Combined with the optional design, the scallop carved from the rear of the desk, your cables can also run freely down the back of the standing desk. This makes placement directly against a wall or another desk feasible with zero need for grommet holes.

Save space and declutter your desktop with Desky's easy-to-fit cable management design and scallop-carved rear design. If you're constantly having too much on your desk, read my guide on how to minimise clutter and boost workspace productivity.

4. Useful ergonomics

The Desky Dual Stand-Up Desk is also designed with ergonomics in mind. It features an anti-collision feature for added safety. While usually looked over, an anti-collision feature is necessary for every standing desk you intend to use. Especially if you alternate between sitting and standing regularly. Not only is it a safety feature, but it's also extremely important for the furniture and assets you have around your standing desk.

Desky Programmable Presets.
Desky Programmable Presets.

Desky also offers a desktop option with a contoured front edge which provides more room for your arms and wrists. This ergonomic front curve design reduces muscle stress and allows you to remain comfortable while working for long hours on your new standing desk. The standing desk, just like the UpDown Pro Desk, has four programmable pre-sets that allow you to save your frequently used height settings.

5. Easy assembly

Assembling the Desky Dual Stand-Up Desk is incredibly easy with precision drilled holes. The holes perfectly align the frame design, and you don’t require any power tools to assemble your desk. It comes with detailed instructions you need to assemble it in no time at all.

If you do not have a good knowledge of how to assemble the desk correctly, it could be a more difficult process than some others, but the video guide from their support below will make it easier.

6. Price

When it comes to cost, the Desky Dual is reasonably priced and offers great value for money. You can get the basic model for under $900, and you can upgrade to a larger size or add extra features, such as cable management. The desk without other useful optional features is expensive compared to other standing desks.

However, considering the quality of the desk, its customisable features, and the advanced cable management system, the price tag is more than justified. The prices start at $875 for a melamine desktop and can reach $2,400 for certain hardwood options, putting the Desky sit-stand desk in the same price range as the UpDown Pro.

7. Excellent Warranty

The Desky Dual Stand-Up Desk comes with an excellent warranty. It is backed by a 10-year limited warranty, which covers any problems that may arise during normal use. The warranty also covers any parts or labour required to repair or replace the product. This is in addition to a seven-day easy return policy that allows you to try out and return the product within a week from the date of purchase.

I recommend getting familiar with the terms and conditions of both the warranty and return policy so you don't void any of them before they've run out. For the return policy, for instance, Desky insists that they will not accept a return for "items that are not in a sellable condition. For desktops, this includes where a top has been fixed to a frame with wood screws and is no longer in a sellable condition."

What Can Improve on the Desky Dual Stand-Up Desk?

I have a couple of reservations regarding the Desky Dual Stand-Up Desk. These are specifically related to its limited return policy and customer service, which some users have reportedly had issues with. Here's a closer look at these aspects.

1. Trial period

Desky also offers a trial, which is good since budget-friendly standing desk options like the Artiss do not bother at all. However, it is only 7 days vs UpDown's 100-day trial, and you cannot fix the desktop to the frame. The UpDown Pro can be returned even if you have screwed the desktop to the desk frame. What Desky is basically saying is if you accidentally bought the product and shipped it to your residence, you can return it in seven days.

2. Poor customer service

While my experience with the Desky customer service reps was fairly smooth, there are complaints from other users that show grave concerns regarding their customer service. Most complaints surround a bad shipping experience or receiving damaged parts. Take this into consideration when you place your order online. I recommend speaking to a customer representative beforehand to ensure everything goes smoothly.

The Competitors

Can't take your chances with a 7-day trial return or probable poor customer experience? Consider the following options. Alternatively, you can read my extensive guide on the best standing desks in Australia for more in-depth comparisons.

#1. UpDown Pro

UpDown Pro Desk
UpDown Pro Desk

The Desky Dual is a very similar standing desk in design to the UpDown Pro Desk; it costs much the same with some differences. Desky is rated at 10 kg less for dynamic lifting than the UpDown Pro. The frame weighs 36 kg versus UpDown Pro’s 41 kg. Desky Dual also features an anti-collision mechanism like UpDown Pro.

The maximum elevation of 125 cm is slightly less than UpDown’s 127.5 cm; for most people, this will not matter. The Desky Dual also has an advanced optional cable management system - not offered by the UpDown Pro or EverDesk. UpDown Pro has no integrated power boards and grommet holes – and the optional power rails are quite expensive.

#2. NorthDay EverDesk

NorthDay EverDesk
NorthDay EverDesk

The EverDesk is definitely the more upscale model of the two in terms of the number of accessories offered. Both have powerful motorized height adjustment systems and advanced cable management systems – Desky has an integrated power board with up to 10 power points, but EverDesk has a UniGroove Cable management system.

Desky Dual has over ten desktop colour options, while EverDesk offers less than 4. The frames of both Desks are made of steel and available in different colour options, but the frame weight is 5 kg less than the EverDesk. The elevation of the EverDesk is also 1 cm more, but the lifting capacity of the Desky Dual is 20 kg more than the EverDesk Standing Desk.

#3. Artiss Standing Desk

Artiss Standing Desk
Artiss Standing Desk

Desky offers a more generous desktop space of up to 180 cm, whereas the largest option of the Artiss Desk is 140 cm. Desky has a big desktop and plenty of space to store your things; it weighs 36 kg, while Artiss weighs only 21 kg.

The Artiss Standing Desk can also only support 100 kg of weight, while the Desky Dual can withstand 140 kg. The range of height adjustment of Artiss is limited from 69 – 118 cm, Desky allows 60 – 125 cm. In terms of price, however, Artiss Desk is the more affordable option. Compared to the expensive Desky Dual Desk, it costs about half the price.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Here are some frequently asked questions about the Desky Dual Stand-Up Desk.

What is the difference between Desky single and dual standing desks?

The Desky Single Sit Stand desk frame is powered by a single electric motor with an 80 kg capacity and a height range of 73 to 123 cm. The Desky Dual Sit Stand desk, on the other hand, is powered by a dual motor system with 140 kg capacity and a best-in-class height range of 60 to 125 cm. The latter offers you a more powerful desk frame with increased stability and greater adjustability.

How do I reset my Desky Dual Desk?

If you ever need to reset your Desky Dual Desk, all you have to do is press the down button to lower the desk level to its minimum height. Then press the down button again and hold for at least 10 seconds until the display reads reset or RST.

Press the down button once again just for a second to display the height status of your Desk. Resetting your Desky Dual Standing Desk is incredibly easy and requires no tools or assembly. This reset takes the desk to its factory settings and allows you to readjust it to your desired height.

How reliable is the Desky Dual Standing Desk?

The Desky Dual Stand-Up Desk has excellent build quality. The company has taken extra steps to ensure the desk is durable and reliable. The Desk frame is certified by TÜV Rheinland (European testing company), EESS (Australia and New Zealand regulatory authorities), and BIFMA (USA and Canada testing agency). The desktop choices are also made from high-quality materials, including Hardwood, Melamine, Softwood, MDF, and Bamboo, among others. So you can rest assured that your Desky Dual Standing Desk will last for years.

The Verdict

In the diverse landscape of adjustable workstations, the Desky Dual Stand-Up Desk has proven itself a standout. Its ergonomic adaptability and bespoke features make it a shining contender amongst the best standing desks in Australia.
