Artiss Stand-Up Desk: Quick Overview

Artiss Standing Desk
Artiss Standing Desk

Artiss has a sleek and contemporary design. The desktop is made from high-quality particleboard, and the steel frame makes it durable and sturdy. The standout feature of the sit-stand desk is its price, which is almost half the price of high-end standing desks like the UpDown Pro Desk. Although not as feature-rich as the expensive models, it offers basic height adjustment and other essential features, which are enough for most users.

The Artiss Standing Desk also has dual motors for robust and reliable operation. Its digital control panel lets you easily adjust the desk's height according to your needs and preferences. For added convenience, the desk offers three programmable height presets, enabling you to quickly switch between your preferred settings with the push of a button.

The value-for-money sit-stand desk is an excellent pick for students and anyone transitioning from sitting to standing—an attractive and cost-effective option for a basic standing desk.

Best Bits of the Artiss Sit-Stand Desk

Here are the standout features of the Artiss Sit-Stand Desk; I'll go over seven reasons why the standing desk is worth it.

1. Good build quality

Although cheaper, the controls and build quality of the Artiss sit-stand desk are excellent. The control panel's buttons have a nice, tactile feel. The desk is also designed with a powder-coated desk frame and particleboard desktop, ensuring durability and easy maintenance. Regardless of testing with my heavy workstation and everyday use, it remained sturdy.

Being a dual-motor height-adjustable desk, Artiss is reliable and moves smoothly and quietly. The eco-friendly particleboard material desktop and anti-scratch finish improve its longevity. Plus, it has rounded corners, adjustable footpads, and smooth edges that make it comfortable.

2. Four desktop options

The Artiss stand-up desk comes in four desktop colour options. They are priced equally, including White, Black, Natural Oak, and Walnut. I like the walnut's colour; of course, it depends on your office space.

Artiss Desk Options: From Left - Walnut, White, Black, Natural Oak

There are also two desktop sizes available: 120 cm and 140 cm. The price difference between the two is only $20! So, I don't see why anyone would not just take the larger one unless they have a space constraint in their room or are very into Feng shui.

3. Cable management system

The Artiss Standing Desk comes with some clips and ties that you can use for basic cable management. It's not the best, but I can't complain much at its price point. It gets part of the work done, but you will likely wish they had included a cable management tray as you use more cables.

Artiss doesn't include any accessories with the standing desk. This won't bother you if you work with fewer devices. However, since I had two monitors and a laptop to work with, I experimented and successfully fitted the UpDown cable tray under the desk to reduce the cable clutter—it fit seamlessly. I reckon the Desky mini cable tray would work, too.

4. Handy control panel

The controls on the Artiss Standing Desk are pretty stylish. The adjustment switch is located at the bottom of the frame and is easily accessible. It has a nice black finish with a glossy touch. The buttons are large and easy to press, making it easy to quickly change the desk's height.

There is also an LCD screen at the bottom of the frame, showing you the current height setting and other important information. The LCD screen is bright and, thus, is easy to read. Artiss allows you to attach the panel at either side of your standing desk during assembly.

5. Easy to assemble

The sit-stand desk package included the motorised adjustable desk frame, the desktop, and the assembly instructions. However, Artiss could definitely improve the instructions—it was just a single diagram with lots of letters, numbers, and arrows, which made it tricky to figure out on the first try. This means you are almost guaranteed some trial and error.

That said, the desk was well-packed, and I set it up in a reasonable amount of time. FYI: I have assembled a fair number of standing desks. The desk has pre-drilled holes, but you still need a power drill for the control panel. The company does not drill these holes intentionally so you can install the control panel at the place (left or right edge) convenient for you.

Like most standing desks, Artiss' standing desk is pretty heavy, and you might need assistance flipping it once assembled.

6. Excellent value for money

Artiss Standing Desk

The Artiss Standing Desk retails at a more affordable price than similar desks. After reviewing many standing desks and being a subject authority for the Australian market, I am confident that the Artiss Standing Desk is one of few budget-friendly sit-stand desks comparable to high-end standing desks.

However, note that the variations of the Artiss Sit-Stand Desk are priced much higher on their site than on reseller sites like Amazon; the best deals change between sites, but you can find the best deal here. I think the significant price difference is fascinating. Artiss must have decided to capitalise on word of mouth to make a higher profit on their site when people search for their product specifically.

7. Fair warranty

Artiss offers a 1-year warranty if you directly purchase it from the manufacturer. I know; that's small compared to the 10+ warranties offered on other desk options. But consider the price, and there's little to complain about. Artiss also provides a warranty against damaged or defective products that arrive upon delivery, but you must make a claim within two days of delivery.

Unlike the UpDown Pro, Desky Dual, and other sit-stand desks, Artiss offers no trial period. Instead, you get a 30-day change of mind policy. After receiving the product, if you change your mind and want to return the product, you can do it. But the package must be unopened and unused. Still, you won’t get a full refund; a 10% admin cost will be deducted.

What Can Improve?

The Artiss Sit-Stand desk has its drawbacks, which is expected, being a budget pick. Here are four cons to note:

1. Not suitable for luxury homes

The sit-stand desk doesn’t look cheap, but it’s not on the same level as high-end models like the UpDown Pro. While well-designed and functional, it’s not meant to be a luxury pick. Artiss' particleboard desktop with a melamine coating isn’t the right fit for a high-end home.

As an affordable option, it’s perfect for anyone switching from a traditional desk to a sit-stand desk on a tight budget.

2. Low weight-bearing capacity

The Artiss desk is an excellent match for its price, offering a design similar to Ikea. The desktop is thinner and made from particleboard, supported by a single cross-beam with a weight capacity of up to 100 kg.

3. No trial period

Artiss completely lags behind the other competitors regarding trial periods. UpDown Pro, for example, offers a 100-day money-back guarantee period. Without a trial period, it's challenging to determine if you will be satisfied before buying.

That is not to say there is no circumstance where you cannot return the product after purchase. However, you must not use or even open the package lest you void the 30-day change of mind policy that allows you to return the product for a 90% refund. Artiss takes 10% as a restocking fee or admin cost on the total amount.

4. No accessories

Artiss is an excellent choice in design and construction, but the desk doesn't come with any accessories. As I said earlier, you can use a cable tray from UpDown Pro, among others, to manage your cables.

Artiss Sit-Stand Desk: My Rating

Compared to its competition, the Artiss Sit-Stand Desk performed relatively well. It ranks behind the UpDown Pro Desk Desk (4.6), NorthDay EverDesk (4.4), and the Desky Sit-Stand (4.3).

The Competitors

Can't live with any of the downsides of the Artiss Standing Desk? Then, consider the following options. Alternatively, read my guide on the best height-adjustable desks in Australia for a more comprehensive review of the available options.

#1. UpDown Pro Desk

UpDown Pro Desk
UpDown Pro Desk

The Artiss Standing Desk is constructed from sturdy, durable, scratch-resistant particleboard. The UpDown Pro, on the other hand, can lift more and has the option of a solid hardwood desktop, making it a more premium choice. A 10-year warranty and 100-day money-back guarantee period of UpDown Desk is something that Artiss buyers can only dream about.

However, the Artiss Standing Desk is cheaper—even more so if you start adding accessories to yourUpDown Pro, such as additional storage solutions. It's a great choice if you want a simple yet stylish standing desk, whereas the UpDown Pro is a luxurious option with many features.

#2. Desky Dual Sit-Stand Desk

Desky Dual Stand-Up Desk
Desky Dual Stand-Up Desk

Desky's Dual Motor Sit-Stand Desk is a more advanced and feature-rich option. It offers a comprehensive range of adjustable features, robust construction, and a generous warranty. The electrically height-adjustable desk has a desktop space of up to 180 cm compared to Artiss' 140 cm.

Desky's frame also weighs 36 kg, while the Artiss weighs 21 kg. Thus, it can withstand a 140 kg load, while Artiss' sit-stand desk has a 100 kg weight capacity. For height adjustment, the Artiss Standing desk again falls short of Desky's 60 to 125 cm height range.
